PTE. E. FANCY

49013 Pte Emmanuel Fancey 1 Bn Devonshire Regiment. Emmanuel was born in Holton Heath and resided in Parkstone. He enlisted for the Great War in Dorchester. Emmanuel was Killed in Action on the 23rd April 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.

210057 Able Seaman Peter James Frampton HM Submarine E16. Peter was born on 29th January 1885 in Bournemouth. He was a pre war Sailor in the Royal Navy, having joined as a Boy in June 1900. On Christmas Day 1909, he married Beatrice Toop at Lady St Mary’s Church, Sandford. In March 1915, he was posted to HM Submarine E16. Peter was Killed in Action when HM Submarine E16 struck a mine in Heligoland Blight on the 22nd August 1916. All 31 members of the crew were killed. He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
