CLEMENT BURR

132268 Pte Clement Burr 19 Bn Machine Gun Corps. Clement resided in Blandford and enlisted for the Great War in Sturminster Newton. Clement Died on the 6th October 1918. He is buried in Glageon Communal Cemetery Extension.

ERNEST HENRY BUSH

31290 Pte Ernest Henry Bush 1 Bn Northamptonshire Regiment. Ernest enlisted for the Great War in Oundle. Ernest Died of Wounds on the 20th April 1918. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.

GEORGE BUTLER

10517 Pte George Butler 5 Bn Dorset Regiment. George was born and resided in Shroton. He enlisted for the Great War in Blandford. George was Killed in Action on the 26th September 1916. He has no known grave and is now commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing on the Somme.

ALBERT GEORGE JENKINS

13052 L/Cpl Albert George Jenkins 5 Bn Dorset Regiment. Albert was born and resided in Shroton. He enlisted for the Great War in Blandford. Albert was Killed in Action at Gallipoli on the 19th September 1915 aged 24. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. The CWGC lists “Son of George and Louisa Jenkins, of Shroton, Blandford”. His brother also appears on the Iwerne Minster War Memorial, see next entry.

WILLIAM EDWARD JENKINS

45917 Pte William Edward Jenkins 8 Bn Royal Berkshire Regiment, Formerly 8/37386 Pte Devon Regiment. William was born in Shroton and resided in Blandford. He enlisted for the Great War in Dorchester. William Died on the 5th September 1918 aged 18. He is buried in Mericourt-L’Abbe Communal Cemetery Extension. His brother also appears on the Iwerne Minster War Memorial, see previous entry.

ARTHUR THOMAS PERCY

57134 Gnr Arthur Thomas Percy 6 Trench Mortar Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. Arthur was born and resided in Shroton. He enlisted for the Great War in Blandford. Arthur Died of Wounds on the 6th March 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. The CWGC lists “Son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Percy, of Shroton, Blandford, Dorset”.

WILLIAM GEORGE ROBERTS

16700 Pte William George Roberts 1 Bn Dorset Regiment. William was born at Iwerne Courtney and resided at Shroton. He enlisted for the Great War in Blandford. William was Killed in Action on the 6th July 1916 aged 24. He has no known grave and is now commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing on the Somme. The CWGC lists “Son of Henry John and Mary Jane Roberts, of Shroton, Blandford, Dorset”.

GRANTLEY HENRY TUFFIN

13663 Pte Grantley Henry Tuffin G Coy 2 Bn Scots Guards. Grantley was born and resided in Blandford. He enlisted for the Great War in Dorchester. Grantley was Killed in Action on the 25th September 1916 aged 21. He has no known grave and is now commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing on the Somme. The CWGC lists “Son of Grantley Charles and Annie Elizabeth Tuffin, of Rose Cottage, Shroton, Blandford, Dorset”.

REGINALD CHARLES WAREHAM

Reginald was Killed in Action in Mesopotamia on the 25th March 1917 aged 20. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial. REGINALD FREDERICK PIKE

T4/084728 Dvr Reginald Frederick Pike 798 Horse Transport Coy Army Service Corps. Reginald Died at No.40 Casualty Clearing Station on the 17th December 1918. He is buried in Sofia War Cemetery.
